| Description |
The same as species, but with two palm per pot for a more natural look. This genus is one of the most cold hardy and fastest growing species of palms in the world. The species T. fortunei is a native of China. Reaching a mature height of about 35'High x 10'Wide under ideal conditions, this palm will have large fan shaped fronds up to 30"Wide. The tips of the fronds droop on the mature fans. It is the most popular temperate palm in the cooler climates. The one we planted in our display garden at Nearly Native Nursery has grown from seed to a 13'Tall specimen in 8 years. We moved it in the spring of '06 and it measured at time of transplant to be 18'High and and still growing rapidly. Having a 12'clear trunk and 6'of crown fronds it dominated our display garden entrance. Our conditions are full sun well drained red clay. We protected the trunk with mulch for the first two years, other than that, no other care was given.
