Botanical Name Butia paraguayensis
Description If you like Butia capitata, also known as (Jelly and Pindo Palm), but are looking for something different that is not so commonly offered in the trade then Butia paraguayensis just might fit the bill. Dwarf Yatay Palm is best suited for warmer temperate to subtropical and true tropical climates. Butia paraguayensis rarely matures beyond 12'High x 8'Wide, can have a trunk girth of 16" and is quite cold hardy. This palm has been reported to survive 5 degrees F and will perform better if planted in a sheltered southern exposure always in drier well drained conditions. Like most Butia species very graceful by nature.
Notes
All of our 1 gallons are grown in a 4x4" square x 14" deep pots and 3 gallon are grown in 7x7" square x 18" deep pots to allow for a deeper root system which aids in our Palms winter survival. Customers are having much better success with our palms surviving the winter over growers that use traditional shallow pots.
