Description Although similar to species fraseri, this extremely rare deciduous magnolia is more heat tolerant than the Fraser Magnolia. Native to the coastal plains and lower Piedmont, Pyramid Magnolia has fragrant creamy flowers in early spring and bright red cones in late summer. It prefers rich well drained soils and shaded locations. Mature height is about 25' tall. Very hard to find in the nursery trade, limited quantities available.
